Make an Image Transparent in Snagit
Image background Transparent is a state where you can take an image and change part of it or its background to a see-through or transparent state. This is great for putting images over other images where you want to be able to see through it to the background image.
It’s easy to do and snag it here’s how I have an image here of a black and white drawing of a tree and I’m going to make the leaves itself transparent.
I accomplished this by clicking on the fill tool within Snagit and if it’s not available in my quick styles. I simply go to fill options to select the color and choose the checkerboard option.
Which represents transparency then I just use the fill tool to click in the areas? That I want transparent and this white area becomes checkerboard or transparent and I can test that it’s transparent by pulling up another color.
Say this green background and simply dragging the tree on top of it to show that anywhere where the tree was marked as transparent. You can see through it so as I move this around on the green background you can see it’s transparent but I can move off of it.
You can still see that I can see directly through that tree there are a few formats that support this but the best one to use is a PNG or portable Network graphics image that’s done by simply going to file save as and making sure the save type is PNG.
